The UniFi Lite 8 PoE (USW-Lite-8-PoE) is a compact 8-port managed switch that provides PoE for a small number of cameras, APs or intercoms. We use it when a building has a remote room, garage or annex that needs just a handful of powered devices and it is not practical to home-run every cable to the main closet. In Chicago North Shore projects this might be a detached garage, a rooftop enclosure or a satellite telecom room on another floor. The switch is still fully managed through UniFi Network, so we can apply VLANs, monitor link health and reboot ports remotely when cameras lock up.
