About 7DVR.com
7DVR.com is a security and low-voltage brand of Vidimost LLC, focused on security cameras, access control, video intercoms and networking for homes, small businesses and multifamily buildings in Chicago North Shore.
What we actually do every day
We help property owners, boards and small businesses build and maintain security systems that work in real life – not just in brochures. Most of our work includes:
- Design and installation of IP camera systems for homes and buildings.
- Door access control with fobs, cards and secure locks.
- Video intercoms and entry systems with mobile apps.
- Networking, PoE and Wi-Fi specifically for security devices.
Many of our projects start with “our current system is a mess” or “we don’t really trust what we have”, and then move to a clean, documented setup that is easy to support in the long term.
Based in Winnetka, focused on Chicago North Shore
We are based in Winnetka, IL and focus on Chicago North Shore and nearby suburbs: Winnetka, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Glencoe, Evanston, Northfield, Northbrook, Skokie and selected Chicago neighborhoods.
Staying local means we can visit properties quickly, understand typical building layouts and conditions, and support systems over many years instead of doing one-time installs and disappearing.
If your property is outside this area, we can still talk – especially if it is a multifamily building or a more complex project – but our main focus remains Chicago and North Shore.
How we approach projects
We do not just “hang cameras” or “plug in a box”. Every project starts with understanding how the property works and what problems you want to solve:
- For homes, that might be clear video at doors, driveway and backyard, without turning the house into a data center.
- For small businesses, it is often about entrances, cash and stock, with simple remote access and reliable recording.
- For condo and HOA buildings, it usually includes lobbies, elevators, garages, mail rooms and main entries with intercoms and access control.
We then design a system around your property: number and placement of cameras, type of recorders, access control topology, intercom locations and network infrastructure that ties everything together.
The result is a system that is documented, maintainable and ready for future growth – not a random mix of devices from different vendors.
Why our catalog exists
The catalog on this site is not a generic online shop. It lists the hardware we actually trust and use in projects: cameras, recorders, access control components, intercoms, switches, routers and power equipment.
When you see a product in our catalog, it means we have real-world experience with this type of hardware in Chicago-area conditions – not just a nice spec sheet. The catalog helps us:
- Prepare clear proposals with links to our own descriptions.
- Give property managers a reference for what is already installed.
- Standardise systems so they can be serviced and expanded over time.
If you are comparing quotes or trying to understand what you already have, we can often map existing devices to similar products in our catalog and explain the differences.
Next steps
If you are just starting to think about security upgrades, a good place to start is our Services page and the Solutions section with example systems for homes, small businesses and multifamily buildings.
When you are ready to talk, use the Contact page to request a quote or a site visit. A short description of your property and current issues is enough for the first step.
